Piraeus Bank is enriching the current range of pioneering and innovative e-banking services offered through winbank. Today, a new and unique type of service is being launched; winbank VISA Direct.
As of today, Piraeus Bank customers may transfer money directly to any e-mail address. The only prerequisite is that both the sender and the recipient be VISA credit card or VISA Electron holders. Currently, VISA card holders are over 5.5 million in Greece and 225 million in Europe.
The money transfer procedure is amazingly simple through winbank internet service. Specifically, to transfer money the following must be stated:
- the amount to be transferred
- VISA credit or VISA Electron card to be debited, and
- either the recipient’s e-mail address
- or the recipient’s VISA credit ή VISA Electron card number
- The recipient is notified of the money transfer by VISA via e-mail giving detailed information and instructions on how to receive the money.
If the sender states the recipient’s card number, the amount is credited to their card. If the sender states an e-mail address, then the recipient visits the web site indicated on the e-mail message he receives and gives his/her VISA card number for the money to be credited.
Money transfer via the new VISA Direct service is major innovation and a competitive edge of VISA EU. Piraeus Bank is the first European bank to offer the VISA Direct service via winbank.
