The Portfolio seeks to generate income and capital gains over the long term. The Portfolio mainly invests in below investment grade fixed income securities issued by North American and European companies (including securities issued by off-shore issuers who may issue corporate fixed income securities). These companies are either based in North America and/or Europe or generate the majority of their profits or earnings in those regions. The Portfolio can also invest in below investment grade fixed income securities from companies established anywhere else in the world.
