Piraeus e-banking Security


To ensure maximum security for Piraeus e-banking, we use cutting-edge methods that safeguard your transactions, protect whom against unauthorized access.

Personal access codes

 1.    Personal codes

You can only access Piraeus e-banking if you enter both the customer authentication codes that only you know:

    • Your Username
    • Your Password

You receive your personal codes online if you choose free online registration for Piraeus e-banking service or from a Piraeus Bank branch when you sign your contract.

The first time you use Piraeus e-banking, for your own security, the system makes you change your PIN (online registration) or Username and PIN (branch registration).

Every 2 or 3 months, or every time you ask for the codes to be reissued, the system automatically redirects you to the “Change Password” screen. You can change you codes more often if you like.



 2.     Password lock
    • I forgot my Username
      If you forgot your Username, click here.
      Alternatively, you can call Piraeus Bank's customer service center at +30 210 32 88 000 to restore your access.
    • I forgot my Password
      If you are an individual who has activated the sms extraPIN on your mobile phone and you remember your Username but you don't remember your Password, you can re-issue your Password starting from here.
      In any other case, you have to apply to any of the Piraeus Bank branches to have your password reissued.
    • I have been locked, but I remember my credentials
      If you are an individual and you remember both your Username and your Password but they have been entered mistakenly up to three times and you have been locked, click here.


In any other case, you should contact Piraeus Bank customer support center at +30 210 32 88000*.



* Charges from landline or mobile may apply according to the pricing policy of your phone provider.
** The daily efforts for reissue password and unlock cannot exceed 3.



 3.     Automatic logout

If the system identifies that you have been inactive for 10 minutes while logged into Piraeus e-banking, for your own security it will automatically log you out.

Transactions with authentication

In order to conduct transactions at Piraeus e-banking, every transaction should be authorized.

Transaction authorization will be performed easily, quickly and free of charge through a push notification* or alternatively with an extraPIN delivered through Viber** or SMS to the mobile phone number you have declared to the bank.

*You receive this code by push notification, if you are a Piraeus app user and have the notifications enabled in your device and app.

** A prerequisite is to have a Viber account, with the mobile phone number you have declared to the Bank for receiving the extraPIN code. The extraPIN code will be sent to Viber from the Piraeus e-banking account. In case you don’t have a Viber account, or it is not possible for any reason to send you the extraPIN code via Viber, you will continue to receive it on your mobile via Push Notification or SMS. If you don’t want to receive the extraPIN code via Viber, you can exclude Piraeus e-banking from the list of recipients in the Viber app and undo this option at any time.



Controlled access (Firewall)

A firewall controls access to Piraeus Bank’s servers. It operates on two levels:

  • It allows customers/visitors or subscribers/users to use specific services
  • It prevents third parties accessing systems and databases that contain Piraeus Bank’s confidential data and information

Encryption and confidential data transmission

Encryption

From the start of your online Piraeus e-banking session, all your information and personal data is encrypted using the SSL-128-bit (Secure Sockets Layer) encryption protocol.




Confidential data transmission

To keep the data you transmit during your Piraeus e-banking session confidential, we use the SSL-128bit encryption protocol. This key has been developed in partnership with Verisign, the most widely recognized encryption key generator company for banking services that specialises in transaction security.

Personal Data Protection

Your personal data that has been or will be legally transferred to Piraeus Bank in the future regarding the use of Piraeus e-banking will be included in the personal data file maintained by the Bank, as the Data Controller, and will be subject to processing for the purpose of properly servicing, supporting, and monitoring your transactional relationship in accordance with the information provided in the "Data Privacy Notice" leaflet, which you can find on our website General Data Protection Regulation | Piraeus Bank



Security is your responsibility too

The security of your data on Piraeus e-banking also depends on how responsibly you manage it. Only you know your personal access codes. You should not disclose them to anyone.


Piraeus e-banking’s customer service line will never ask you for your PIN. If anyone contacts you by phone or email asking you for your PIN or asking you to log into Piraeus e-banking by clicking on some link, treat it with suspicion.


Do not reveal you personal access codes for Piraeus e-banking to anyone, even if they promise that they will offer you additional services or assistance. By providing your codes, you are giving that person access to your accounts and personal data. If these are used maliciously, you are directly responsible for the consequences.


If you believe that someone has Phished your PIN change it immediately. Log into Piraeus e-banking and change your Pin in your “Profile”. Let us know about it immediately.
